Damn this was a late reply. Giveaways do work in two possible ways. People tend to think of one: linkbait. The other way they work is submitting your giveaway to directories. If you give away software, there are hundreds of software sites out there that will give you a followed link back to your site. I usually launch a site with a giveaway like this and then pump it up every now and then with other giveaways.

Well, Steve, I have multiple sites, so was inspired to read your post. I have to say, I'm a tat (actually: a whole lot) overwhelmed by all the tasks you're setting out in your blue print, and realize there's a lot I don't (yet) do.

However, because I have little time for my blogs, I shift gears when it comes to efficiency, and so thank you for your ideas in this regards.

Last: a question: do these give-aways really work on blogs? I know it's a marketing classic, however I tried it twice and got a very lukewarm response... Would like your opinion...

<em>A.Lee's last blog post..<a href='http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/eartfair/~3/295426330/' rel="nofollow">SCOPEBasel June 3-8 2008</a></em>

I hear you. I always thought it'd be cool to write a screenplay, but I know that as soon as I take like 5 years out of my life to write a classic epic, Hollywood (if they even accepted my script) would butcher it.

You're lucky you're in that position to be able to focus on the one part of the business you like. I envy you; I'm not there yet :)

Man, it's a weird thing. My first dream was to become a writer. When I started blogging more heavily, I realized a writer doesn't need to publish books. Now I determined to get to the point where most of the time I, myself spend is writing. No more hasty posts because half the day has to be spent updating one site. I write a lot better with no pressure and it will give me a chance to practice in a less hostile time frame and instantly responsive environment. It's almost like refusing to sell out by building the paycheck for writing career first.

I love the fact that you got to the point where you're maxing out your time for creating sites, and you still won't outsource your blog posts. Kudos to you, man, I feel the same way. I know a few people who outsource that, too. Whos blog is it then?
