This was going to be a post about how I got away from blogging for the weekend to get back to writing. And that part’s true. I started writing it yesterday and that part’s true. And then I was going to explain that I was going to try to continue the practice of writing in internet isolation. That part, is not so true.
I am writing this post in Dark Room. But I have been sitting at the computer for the last hour. I have downloaded SweetCron, which I may use, and Google Chrome, which is proof that Google should stick to search engines.
I’m just saying. If this is their idea of jumping into something new against competitors and surprising people, I can’t wait to beat a phone running Android to death. Damn, do something cool and
different, for God sakes. And make it cool enough that it blows everyone out of the water, especially if you come in this late in the game. And I like the features that are just like Flock, yet I cannot import from Flock. Almost the same star to bookmark in the same place on the interface. I also noticed some Opera like features, yet no import from Opera either. I like the “One Box” idea also, that just came out on Firefox 3.
And that’s how it goes. Oh, yeah I also signed up for a site called Bunsay because I got an email from them. The site has no PageRank, so I hit the Stumble button just to see. First one there.
Some people like shiny objects. I like planting my foot in snow that has not been walked on.
I also like what I call “research”. I call it “research” because sometimes it isn’t. Most of the time it is, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I am just surfing. And sometimes I am just stubborn about finding something with the wrong keywords.
I also like numbers. They distract me. If I have a number 35 next to my picture, I want to make it number one. And social networks that don’t do some sort of “king of the hill” system are missing out on the additive qualities of a system like this. At least when it comes to people like me. But I tell myself to ignore the numbers.
So, back again to the title of this post which was supposed to be about the last weekend when I had not internet connection for three days. I wrote. I wrote a lot. Articles. Magazine articles are a different creature. Much longer and needy. I think I will write haikus now instead.
I was also going to reference historical sources on monks, the dark ages, writing, Gutenberg and a bunch of random things that swirled around the post’s title and the need for peace and quiet. Then, instead I just sat down and wrote this. Quiet is over.
And so much for the Blogging Monk. I am back in this storm that is the internet again. And if you do want to read about blogging with out being distracted by IM, email notices, random popups and evil numbers than read Bloghology, after it comes out of course.

Ha – yours is the first kind of negative reference to Chrome – I agree that they are late in the game but Google being Google will ensure their browser becomes popular I am sure.
for now, I am happy with FF and do not intend to change myself.

Someone has to be the first. LOL. But people tend to forget where Google has bombed at times. Maybe I need to write a post on that sometime.

I was reading about the new Google browser and others think was the so much needed browser to have a better experience on Internet. I haven’t get mine but I will eventually.

Post like this get little comments. Maybe I should add a disclaimer about voice and sarcasm.
But I do get tired of hype just because a name like Google or Apple are attached. A success with one or more products does not mean every product is great. Time to take off the emerald glasses every now and then.

I also did check out Google Chrome, looks quite cool but don’t know why sometimes just closes without any reason. but overall i think Chrome will definitely here to stay.

I have to admit I am liking it a bit because it loads fast. I have up to now been using Flock and FF3 both for different purposes. I think I may use Chrome for web apps only. I will load up the toolbar with bookmarks of the web applications I use and then trim them down to just the favicon by deleting the title. Right now as I am commenting I have MindMeister open in Chrome.

Thanks for taking a crack at Google. Since they achieved monolith status they sometimes behave like IBM and AT&T used to. Plus it’s fun offering “constructive critism” when many of the so called top SEOs are really kissing ass so Matt Cutts will read them.

I have installed Google Chrome and found browsing much more faster then IE but i will stick with firefox for a while. Chrome is good for end user but this browser is not a good option for webmasters. Just my 2 cents.

The terms and conditions indicate that Google owns anything that you post using Chrome. I’m sure that will go over great. /not
Google owns much of the web in terms of search engine dominance and advertising. They want to own all of it. The dominant software company never has to innovate. IBM and Microsoft didn’t in many of their programs.

I heard something about Google owning the rights to anything posted in Chrome. I will definitely be looking into that.
It seems that people misunderstood. By installing Chrome you agree to give them rights to display it, but you still own the copyright and other rights. Details: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/does_google_have_rights_to_all.php
@Mal I get tired of it too. No one is so perfect that can’t be poked everyone once and a while.
@Roger It is fast. That is one thing it has. But FF just has so many addons I use daily.

First of all, I was a bit confused with G while they announced they’re going to launch new browser since they support FF from the beginnings. Than when it came out, I tried Chrome and I was amazing with it’s speed and simplicity. And the OmniBox, as well. It’s awesome. But, I still using FF3 for they’re rich of add-ons.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. If I were a Firefox developer, I would see it as a slap in the face.

i use ff and like it, but chrome tends to be faster, one of the things i found that there is plenty of broken sites including google docs that it does not open correctly on google chrome.
