I cover a lot of topics and read a lot of blogs. Up until recently, I had them all in one folder in my feed reader. Then I broke them up into folders. That took some thought and until then, I really had no idea what all my interests are. After that two hour organizing session, a lot of things became more clearer. I saw what I liked listed by topic. After that, I was able to create a few filters for each of my blogs. Now, if I’m in commenting mode, I just go down the river of articles in each filter. I have only headlines showing and open all the links in my browser. It is training me on writing better headlines and opening the link in the browser means I don’t have to retype everything when I go to comment.

Invisible Rules for Failing at Blogging
I have gradually built up a list of invisible rules for this blog. What are invisible rules? Rules set by the popularity of past posts. Rules that cause writer’s block and stage fright. And I hate rules.
Why are they invisible? Because I never stated them to myself but they pop up whenever I have a post idea and 9 times out of 10 lately, the idea gets shelved.
So to disarm them, I will try to investigate them. And maybe then, they will stop messing with me.
- Try to write about site concepts instead of just an individual site for the comparison value.
My Online Writing Resources Directory
Eristoddle.com is the third domain I’ve owned. My first was Profit-ware.com which was banned by Google for years and now has a Pagerank of 4. I have found a use for that site and will be moving forward on it soon. My second was ClickbankEbook.com which now redirects to Digital Products Review.
It began as an internet marketing site running on PHPnuke. PHPnuke was the first CMS I played around with and the reason why I started learning to code in PHP.
First Things First
I have been reading The Four Hour Work Week lately. It takes a while. I get a half hour in here and ten minutes there, but I will get through it. It has made me take a hard look at my habits.
A lot of my time is spent checking sales, checking stats, checking for comments on my blog and checking my email. I could make it a career. And sometimes I get stuck in a loop where that is all I do. I call it cycling. A little voice in my head tells me, "I’m cycling again." But it’s mainly an observation. I still continue.
Riding Waves of Productivity
I tend to discount inspiration. I wrote an article about it once because much of the time, it is used for an excuse.
Last week I wrote a series of posts that locked what I wanted to say. Some got Stumbled. Some got a lot of hits. But I am talking about the feeling of completeness when I know that the post I just finished was the best I could have done at the time, maybe even better. I reread some of them a few times, wondering how I could have written them.
The Best Laid Plans
The Plans
I plan to write good posts. Once, I thought blogging was just internet writing and I just spit out a few words here and left for weeks at a time. I am trying to change that, but that doesn’t mean it will always happen, for now.
I always plan to add images to every post. I think they look better. I think it breaks up the whiteness of my theme. I created this theme to look very clean so that I could emphasize what I want. It makes the feed icon and banners stand out. It also makes it easier to read the posts. I choose this after looking at a lot of blogs and getting lost or distracted on their pages. But that doesn’t always happen either.
