Not another bookmarking tool. That’s what I thought at first. I had finally settled on delicious as my tool of choice. I can save, search and archive. Much better than a bunch of folders hanging out on the toolbar of my browser. But TidyFavorites is different.

At first, I thought this tool looks like the home page of Chrome or Opera, where your bookmarks are laid out as screenshots on a grid. Humans are very visual and this can make finding your bookmarks easier. But TidyFavorites does much more than that.
I have been looking at the layout on my blog for a little while now, calculating what I wanted to change about it. But I didn’t make the changes right away. I just noted them and went on with other things. There was a lot of changes I wanted to do and a little more research needed to be done before I did any of them.
I signed up as a sponsor of the MoneyBites contest a couple of weeks ago. One of the things I gave away was ad space, which gave me a deadline for redoing my site a little. Well, that deadline was two days ago.
Most people don’t give a second thought to how the search engines work. When I explain that part of my job, I have to say something along the lines of, "You know, when you are searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream online. That first link you click on. Well, someone worked hard to get their site there out of the thousands available."
"But what if I’m not searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream?"
"Okay, Donkey Shows then."
"I don’t have much interest in Donkeys."
I have been collecting these for a while. One site here, another site there. As I click through the items in my feed reader, I not only read the posts, but I look at the site. I look at the ads, the layout, and the content. I also look at what networks the blogger belongs to. At first, I found only MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, and Bumpzee. But now there are a few more. At least enough to write a post about. The requirements for this list were simple. They had to be more than a bookmarking service. A visitor widget got you in. A related post or blog widget got you in. A way to add your feed to a public profile page got you in. Being an SEO/Marketing friendly community got you in. But the list is raw and still being built.
