Some WordPress SEO Thoughts

I lay awake at night thinking of things like this. Not long. A few minutes or so. Sometimes I get an idea when I am driving. Sometimes I write the ideas down. Sometimes I see if they will pop back up on their own. The ones that do get focus. But I always give them a little freedom. That way they can tell their friends that I am a good home. And then I wait on the friends.

Writer’s Block

I woke up today with nothing to write. That usually happens when I am in research or programming mode. These modes are necessary evils but they can throw me for a loop if I stay in either one too long.

I have also seen a tiny slump in my affiliate sales in the last few weeks. It has happened before at this time of the year. Not sure if the time of the year is the reason or what, but this also throws me for a loop. Panic mode. But sales are still better than any month last year so I need to quit my whining.

I Will Be Exploring Freelancers

It’s time to shift my focus a little again, back to projects, code and campaigns. I am just this close to having the theme done for my other blog. And then I will using all the things I learned at this blog to get some visitors over at that one.

I have noticed when I do this, that the language I use in my blog posts change also. It becomes more matter of fact. I use less complex sentences.

Priests of Blog

Priest.jpgMost people don’t give a second thought to how the search engines work. When I explain that part of my job, I have to say something along the lines of, "You know, when you are searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream online. That first link you click on. Well, someone worked hard to get their site there out of the thousands available."

"But what if I’m not searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream?"

"Okay, Donkey Shows then."

"I don’t have much interest in Donkeys."

Luving the Comments

This blog didn’t used to get very many comments. I have been using dofollow for a while but never got around to putting a banner up that stating that fact. This puts me in good company. Why not give back to people who comment on your blog by giving them a good link back to their site instead of basically slapping them in their face for their comment. "Thanks for the comment, but I am going to treat you like a spammer and link back to your site with a  nofollow tag." The point of nofollow was to prevent spammers from gaining links from blogs.
