Twitter has changed search and has also changed the meaning of the term “up-to-date”. This is no longer waiting until the next scheduled news cast. And forget the newspaper. Even Google is not that fast. And who needs to read a whole page when you can get the gist of what’s going on in 140 characters. Alright, I went to far with the last one. Reading is good and something I wish I had more time for, but my mission to carry a library around in my head is doomed to failure.

Not My Last Word on the Subject of SEO and Online Marketing

I just recently built a e-Commerce site. Only about 20% of the products are up but we decided to launch it. It was time to start getting links and making sales. The domain had no links pointing to it. We had paid for no advertising yet.

As the owner browsed to Google, he said, “I just want to check something.” You see, the domain was a keyword based one. What he was checking is if we showed up in the SERP‘s. I just couldn’t understand why.

The Blogging Monk

This was going to be a post about how I got away from blogging for the weekend to get back to writing. And that part’s true. I started writing it yesterday and that part’s true. And then I was going to explain that I was going to try to continue the practice of writing in internet isolation. That part, is not so true.

Google in 1998I am writing this post in Dark Room. But I have been sitting at the computer for the last hour. I have downloaded SweetCron, which I may use, and Google Chrome, which is proof that Google should stick to search engines.

I Wanna Be a Ass Hat SEO, Please

Yesterday, I ran into a post over at The NetFool than ran down a few Black Hat SEO Techniques. Black Hat techniques always get me thinking. Using the term "Black Hat", automatically assumes the existence of White, Gray and theoretically "No Hat" techniques.

No Hat SEO

Techniques listed under this category are about the only ones that won’t have someone calling you a spammer, black hat, or anything of the sort. It is involves using an "if you build it, they will come" technique. Sending one email to your sister about your new site would automatically eject you from this group. Play around a little and you can make specific posts come up first in your site’s own search engine. Give yourself a damn cookie.

Google Adwords Demographic Bidding

Got an email from Adwords today. It seems that they just opened a beta program where advertisers can bid on specific groups of people.

Demographic bidding is a way to help your ad reach audiences of a certain age or gender. If you want your ads to be seen by women aged 18-24, or people over 55, demographic bidding can help. Demographic bidding is a new feature which is now available to a limited number of AdWords users.

Anyone Ever Have This Happen

Search for something on Google and get this page:
