9 Lightweight Browsers For Non-Surfing Moods

I thought I would pop in here again with a random post about browsers. My browser of choice right now is Chrome. I installed shortly after it came out as my secondary “fast” browser for those times I was doing things other than web surfing with my computer. Like, for example, when writing code and just needing to look up documentation quickly. I was a born again Firefox user at the time. The addons, man, the addons.

TidyFavorites: Bookmarks and More

Not another bookmarking tool. That’s what I thought at first. I had finally settled on delicious as my tool of choice. I can save, search and archive. Much better than a bunch of folders hanging out on the toolbar of my browser. But TidyFavorites is different.

TidyFavorites

At first, I thought this tool looks like the home page of Chrome or Opera, where your bookmarks are laid out as screenshots on a grid. Humans are very visual and this can make finding your bookmarks easier. But TidyFavorites does much more than that.

My FireFox Addons

I like testing things by seeing if they will break. You might find me running nine different programs on my computer at the same time. Every time processors became faster and more efficient, I just loaded them up more.

I had a tendency to do that with Firefox also. This is one reason I run multiple browers: Flock, Firefox and Chrome. Flock is the one I use most of the time and it is one with the most addons. If you are not using Firefox or Flock, you are missing out. Change now or the rest of this post is not even worth reading. Browsers with addons take away the need for a lot of extra software.

Multiple Hot Stories Feeds in One Place

A short post for the weekend, but with lists, you can usually leave them short. This is a list of feeds that I have gathered over the last few months. They are the rss feeds of the hot and upcoming story section of various bookmark and social news sites. And I choose a few new ones in last week out of the following sites:

Social Tools in My Toolbox

This is a incomplete, random list of tools I use with social networks. Not that I know what I am doing quite yet with social networks. It will take a while. I am just an app, software, and addon junky. So I look for software all the time and usually find something. Be sure and add your own in comments. I will probably try all of them.

First, I would like to invite all of you to Social Median, a different sort of network. It works like Digg, because stories can be "clipped" and commented on. It works like FriendFeed because you follow other "News Makers" and has groups. And it’s new and for some reason I can’t stay away.

A Glitch in The System

I used to work on cars. I thought I loved it at the time. I realized after a while that I hated it. I like saving the money. Don’t get me wrong. I still will work on cars, but I will bitch about it.

Sometimes I chase down why things won’t work. Sometimes I’m tired of that crap for the same reason I hate working on cars any more. I can do it, but it’s going to take a long time.
