Quite a Traffic Spike

I guess Alexa has to catch up every one and while, not that I trust Alexa. It’s just nice to see the nice spike in the graph a few days after starting a new blog. I guess releasing a theme helps.

How much does a rank in Alexa mean, I’m new to blogging and I’ve checked my Alexa stats a few times, but I’m not sure of the importance of it. I’ve seen my blog go from the absolute bottom rank to almost a 2,000,000 rank improvement over the last month, I think thats good, maybe you could elaborate a little and let me know if I have a chance at getting a better rank?

    Congrats on the traffic spike!

Alexa rank can be faked for one and marketing sites tend to rank higher because it depends on having the Alexa toolbar installed. I know a site that gets over 1000 uniques a day, but has an Alexa ranking near 400,000. It is not in the marketing niche. I have seen a marketing related site that gets about 500 uniques with an Alexa rank of 140,000. So it is really hard to tell.

This site got a trickle from the site I released the theme from since I linked back here. This site went from an average of 200 uniques to over 400 that day.

I will be writing a post on the results in a week or two. I have only added the theme to about five directories so far, but I picked the top trafficked five.
