A Weekend of Work

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This weekend I got off my butt and went down a list of things I wanted to get done.

I built a list of blogs using the CommentLuv plugin over at my site Digital Product Review. I am just getting the final tweaks on the theme done and am ready to start getting a little more traffic. I figured this list would bring some. It only has 100 blogs on it now, but I have about 250 more links to go through, so look for updates. A large percentage of these blogs have an Entrecard widget, [...] Continue Reading…

Sunday: A Photo Documentary

I always thought I would carry around a digital camera everywhere and be one of those people who take pictures of everything. Never happened until today.

A nice classic looking Bungalow with a decent price. Not very many closets, but I like woodworking. I could put in some built ins.

I started with the best intentions.

This workbench was built for less than $20 out of an old pallet and a sheet of the lowest grade plywood.

I did build some things. I haven’t figured out if this shelf is supposed to look like PI or not.

A built-in transformed into a sidetable. But [...] Continue Reading…

Panic As Fuel

I am a relatively organized and driven person, but I do get comfortable. Comfortable is spending way to much time exploring and not enough time marketing and getting links. Comfortable is putting off my 4 hour sessions of work that I do on the weekends and settling for the couple hours a day spent on my daily to do’s.
Then something happens. What is something?

The basket all my eggs were in gets banned by Google.
Other Adwords advertisers advance heavily on my campaigns for days before I notice it.
Due [...] Continue Reading…

Writer’s Block
I woke up today with nothing to write. That usually happens when I am in research or programming mode. These modes are necessary evils but they can throw me for a loop if I stay in either one too long.
I have also seen a tiny slump in my affiliate sales in the last few weeks. It has happened before at this time of the year. Not sure if the time of the year is the reason or what, but this also throws me for a loop. Panic mode. But sales are still better than any month last year [...] Continue Reading…

I Will Be Exploring Freelancers

It’s time to shift my focus a little again, back to projects, code and campaigns. I am just this close to having the theme done for my other blog. And then I will using all the things I learned at this blog to get some visitors over at that one.
I have noticed when I do this, that the language I use in my blog posts change also. It becomes more matter of fact. I use less complex sentences.
For a few weeks now I haven’t done much except blog. The weekends where I would normally get caught up on those [...] Continue Reading…

A One Hour Blog Renovation

I have been looking at the layout on my blog for a little while now, calculating what I wanted to change about it. But I didn’t make the changes right away. I just noted them and went on with other things. There was a lot of changes I wanted to do and a little more research needed to be done before I did any of them.
I signed up as a sponsor of the MoneyBites contest a couple of weeks ago. One of the things I gave away was ad space, which gave me a deadline for redoing my site [...] Continue Reading…

You Can Trust Me Just About As Far…

I sometimes look back at the posts I have written and then back at my site and think, "Damn, these people must think I’m an asshole."
I say, "You need to do this. This works too. And try this."
When I look at this blog and other sites I have, none actually fit the perfect rules I have written in stone on this blog or in my past articles.
I make a big point of hating hypocrites. It is one of my pet peeves. I argue with new casters and commentators. If anyone has the nerve to turn on the Fox News [...] Continue Reading…

The April MoneyBites Contest

There are $800 worth of prizes in this thing and I’m one of the sponsers. And it was perfect timing because I am a little hungover today and this can take the place of the post. I drink rarely, so hungover is bad.
Enough drinking stories. I am giving away 3000 Entrecards credits, an ad spot, and a Premium Wordpress theme.
The spot for the ad is not up yet. I’ve been meaning to readjust my sidebar before the announcement. But this will give me the motivation to do it this weekend. I am switching from Scratchback to a block of [...] Continue Reading…

Comfort Zones, Slacking and Brain Enemas

I’ve been a slacker for a couple of weeks now. The money has been good, so I slowed down. Not here at my blog, but with other projects. It’s a habit I know well and one that has sabotaged me a lot.
I ran into a place where I became comfortable. "Oh, this is nice. I can stop here a while."
The bills are getting paid. There is a little left for savings. We refinanced the house. And all the taxes for last year are going to be paid. I have been paying $300 a month for two years to the [...] Continue Reading…

A Question of Semantics

A while ago I wrote a post questioning the issue of reblogging. Posts are often reblogged on meme tracking sites which use an algorithm to detect popular stories and ideas. Posts are also reblogged to blanket certain categories or markets. And then some are reblogged by people with made for Adsense sites or splogs.
My reason for covering the topic was to create a more complete picture of what I am trying to present with a post. I can’t cover everything and if I write a post about feeds, it would be nice to have the past research I did [...] Continue Reading…
