But for now, I want to get started. I want to test the linking power of submitting my site to blog directories will do. And this Firefox addon will do the job.

Build It and Give It Away

When I started in internet marketing, that’s what we called in back in the olden days, I was all about getting paid. And 5 internet years is equal to about 2 dog years which comes out to about 7 human years. So, I got it right, 5 years ago was the olden days. Now when I hear the term "internet marketing", I do get a creepy vibe, like I just opened my self up for spam and autosurfing sites that were built with 90′s design, 8 colors and a table.

A Complete Blog Directory List and a Test

I finally got the software finished that cleans my sites’ lists. The first list I tackled was the list of blog and feed directories. And I have to admit that it has been a while since I have gone through any of these lists. But I think now I have to have the most exhaustive list of blog and feed directories around. Once the Filemaker script was done I set it loose and about an hour later, I had a list of sites with title, description, Google Pagerank, and Alexa data. Of course, the script wasn’t that perfect and I still had to go through a few sites manually and there are still a few sites that slipped in. But there are now 335 sites on the list.

Traffic Options

I recently wrote a post about the different types of links you can get to your blog and what they mean to your traffic. One was a more active way through social networks and commenting. The other gave more clout to your site in the search engines. Luckily, a few good blogger In the dofollow movement have decided to give their fellow bloggers a double bang for their buck by removing the nofollow tags from comments.

Looking at Links Again

One thing blogging has done for me is force me to put into words vague ideas that have been floating around in my head for a while. I may not have the clout to say some things or suggest theories, but do you think that is going to stop me? I beg to differ. I think that theories and ideas just give me something new to test. And after hanging out here on the internet for long enough to know that experts at web traffic disagree more than doctors in scientific studies, I figure coming up with my own theories and reasons for doing what I do are just as good as any.
