Linking

Some WordPress SEO Thoughts

I lay awake at night thinking of things like this. Not long. A few minutes or so. Sometimes I get an idea when I am driving. Sometimes I write the ideas down. Sometimes I see if they will pop back up on their own. The ones that do get focus. But I always give them a little freedom. That way they can tell their friends that I am a good home. And then I wait on the friends.

Priests of Blog

Priest.jpgMost people don’t give a second thought to how the search engines work. When I explain that part of my job, I have to say something along the lines of, "You know, when you are searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream online. That first link you click on. Well, someone worked hard to get their site there out of the thousands available."

"But what if I’m not searching for Athlete’s Foot Cream?"

"Okay, Donkey Shows then."

"I don’t have much interest in Donkeys."

Funtagged

I was tagged a few days By Nickoo Shore. I got involved in one of these a while back. It helped with my Technorati rank, but it seemed kind of a sneaky way to do it. What other value does it provide. So I left it for today. It’s Easter. It’s a quick post to fill in the week. Both the kids are taking naps, a miracle.

That was the paragraph this post started with. Miracles don’t last that long. It is Monday now.

And any way I need to stop taking myself so seriously. One way to do it is not reject this idea

Spread Your Feed

The Power of Feeds

I can’t say that I am an expert on getting subscribers. I only have about 160. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it. But I do know a little about feeds. I know that feeds can be useful to a site if you don’t get one subscriber.

Just looking at this chart on Wired will give you an idea of how far a feed can travel. The more distance you get out of your feeds, the bigger the payoff in traffic and backlinks. A link to your site is one thing. A feed provides a new distinct link to your site each time you post. Multiply this by the amount of sites republishing your feed.

TNX.net

Notice: Buying text links in today’s internet landscape is a risk and not something I would advise to newbies. But it does have it’s place if done right.

I’ve been meaning to give TNX the once over for a while. I’ve played around a little with test link buying and know the importance of links that look natural. Plus I like checking out the twists companies can put on advertising. There has been an explosion of ad networks lately. How TXN Works
