Web 2.0

Social Tools in My Toolbox

This is a incomplete, random list of tools I use with social networks. Not that I know what I am doing quite yet with social networks. It will take a while. I am just an app, software, and addon junky. So I look for software all the time and usually find something. Be sure and add your own in comments. I will probably try all of them.

First, I would like to invite all of you to Social Median, a different sort of network. It works like Digg, because stories can be "clipped" and commented on. It works like FriendFeed because you follow other "News Makers" and has groups. And it’s new and for some reason I can’t stay away.

My 10 Mobile Bookmarks

Mobile Web On A Budget

Virgin Mobile Kyocera WildcardI probably spend less than an hour a month on the cell phone. Talking, that is. Plus I usually just listen and say things like
"OK" and "Uh-huh" and on long phone calls I create these sweet doodles that I can never recreate at any other time. It is a tool to keep in contact with my wife and family. For anyone else, they can wait until I am near a land line because most of the time they are in close proximity.

I don’t really speak that much at all. I am comfortable with that most of the time.

I Love Jott

Okay, I broke my rule about always have at least two services to compare when I decide to say something is the next best thing since sliced bread. Because I have to say, why didn’t someone think of this earlier.

I spent about a half an hour this Sunday training Vista to transcribe my voice. It was actually pretty easy and relatively accurate. The last time I tried this was with Dragon Voice about 4 years ago. I gave up that time. I sort of used it like William S. Burroughs would, as a cutup machine. Speak whatever you want into it and you will never know what it types.

Help Out Cre8buzz

Vote for Cre8buzz

It seems that Creabuzz has been nominated for the Mashable Open Web Awards and they are in second place for the best Niche and Miscellaneous Social Networks. And this is a post to get some of you to vote for them. And if you haven’t tried cre8buzz out yet, just comment on this post and I will shoot you an invite.

Cre8buzz is a pretty simple site. You can add pictures, videos, blog posts, and in the site showcase, links and screenshots of your sites. They have forums and a pretty complex rating system. You can rate each and every thing on another Buzzer’s page. The feature I liked was the ability to customize the CSS. But that may be a feature available elsewhere. I don’t get out that much. :)

Facebook Blows

I have finally made it to this point with Facebook. Nope, no convincing me otherwise. I get enough spam in my email to waste my time. And it’s like I wiretapped anyone who is my friend. I get instant updates on whatever they happen to be doing at the time. It’s what I always wanted. There used to be a phrase called "too much information".In an age where the amount of information we need to cram into our minds just to make it in this world in increasing daily, do I really need to keep tabs on what everyone is doing at this moment. Twitter this. "I am typing the letter I." "I am typing the letter A." I am typing the letter M."
