Google Adwords Demographic Bidding

Got an email from Adwords today. It seems that they just opened a beta program where advertisers can bid on specific groups of people.

Demographic bidding is a way to help your ad reach audiences of a certain age or gender. If you want your ads to be seen by women aged 18-24, or people over 55, demographic bidding can help. Demographic bidding is a new feature which is now available to a limited number of AdWords users.

But who wants a computer than runs Linux, unless it’s a server. I tried dual booting Linux on a PC once. It went OK for a while and then I lost everything on my hard drive. And if you thought finding software to run on a Mac was hard. I thought the word was a Google operating system, not a Linux one with a Google logo slapped on.

The PageRank Crisis and Jedi Mind Control

The title’s a joke. My rank is falling. My rank is falling. If I hear that one more freaking time… Pagerank is nothing. Just a indicator. And I wonder if anyone out there placing so much important and spending so much time whining about Pagerank actually had any drop in traffic. The sites I deal with day in and day out had Pagerank drops this time around. Did the traffic drop? Nope. With some, it even increased.

Black Hat SEO and Game Theory

I have done a few things in the past to make sites rank that would definitely qualify as being on the black hat side of things. I am done with that now. It’s too much work just to see all my work washed away by a search engine update. And I am not the type to keep trying to beat the search engines just for the sake of saying you can. But, of course that’s not the only reason to resort to spam and trickery. It is also very lucrative, if you can get a handle on it.

That Fixed the Google Sitemap Problem

Moving this site to my dedicated server fixed the Google sitemap issue. We will have to see what that means in regard to traffic. Goodnight.
