I swear that one of these days I will have something useful to do with this Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet, but for now it’s like having a million colored pencils in one. Want a rough gradient instead of a computer generated one, then draw it, changing the color and the pencil size gradually as you go.
I have to admit I think that most computer generated images are a little too perfect for my liking. It’s unnatural. Nothing in nature is perfect and computers can only generate simulated imperfections. I like a old fashioned hand drawn cartoon every once in a while.
But it seems no one does this any more. Everything is computer generated.
Talk about an increase in traffic and I didn’t have to bribe someone to digg or stumble one of my posts. I was getting really antsy to be finished with this theme at the end so I could see how much traffic a person could get from a WordPress theme. Now I guess I have found out. I have worked off and on with this theme for a couple of months now. And now that it is done, I see many things that I could have done better. But here is what I picked up along the way.
I see everything as connected. I don’t see different fields and I don’t believe in specialization. Specialization is for employees. If you want to be a employee, than get a doctorate. You will find a good job.
To do more than that, you need to have a bigger picture.
I see everything I do as putting information in the right order with the right emphasis. Whether I write an article, write software, or design a site. Not that I met that goal every time, but I try. There are bumps and bruises, but I learn from them.
Short, sweet and to the point. CSS doesn’t look the same. A window pricing calculator I wrote in javascript that works in Safari, IE7, and Firefox for Windows doesn’t work right. Why? I don’t know. But I am not going to spend just as much time writing a seperate calculator. Bring it on, Firefox people.
Update: I was a little bit pissed here, but Firefox for Mac still does not handle javascript calculations correctly.
