People I Have Worked With in Kansas City

Since I have starting working on websites here in Kansas City, I have had the chance to work with a lot of local tech people. And since I was freelancing here for a bit and have not decided to shut that part of my business off at least currently, I thought I could send some people in the right direction if they need web design work in Kansas City.

Bugs, Viruses, Backups, and prevedvsem123.cn

Updated: A Note Before You Read On

I don’t know the source of this virus currently. All I know is that everyone I have talked to so far that has this issue has been on a Layered Tech box, either directly, in the case of Woopra or through resellers. I have not found any other information of it effecting other hosting providers yet.

But I am only stating what I know to be true and trying to help people stop it on their own because god knows that these support desks are going to have their hands fulls.

How Vlad Got Sued for Free Speech

I hate big business. Just checked my Quantcast account. It tells me that no small businesses make their way here. No medium sized businesses made their way here. But 16 big businesses do come here often. Probably because I bitch about them. One in the listing I know I have bitched about, but you can go bite yourself Comcast.

Fixed Costs and Fixed Time

Time is money. It may be something we all agree on, but what does it really mean.

Fixed costs are nice. One of my fixed costs is hosting. When I make $4000 in a month, my hosting is $125. If I triple that, it will still cost me the same and the ROI triples.

On the other hand, PPC advertising moves with the income. If I make more through PPC this month, chances are I spent more too. Yes, I can increase ROI. But for the most part, I have to spend more money to make more. And it doesn’t help that the amount of money I spend on ads is limited by my credit.

The Tax Man Cometh

I love affiliate marketing. I was on cloud 9, just moved cross country and was about to do my taxes. Bam. I had killed my day job before the move. But the damn tax man came along with his radiation from outer space and revived the son of a bitch. Along with paying the IRS monthly for the taxes the year before, I had to go back into the work force.

Getting Past Scheduling

CalendarI revisit the topic of schedules every so often because schedules are evolving things. The reason why Zen to Done works for me is that it minimizes the importance of the calendar. I do most of this in my free time, using that term very loosely. I do get a scheduled hour and a half every Monday through Thursday, but the other days of the week are pretty much up in the air.
