Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred Product Detail I’ve had a lot of setbacks lately. So I figured this is the best time for me to take a look at the past see how I’ve progressed. It’s a great thing to do when you feel like that you are getting nowhere or things are just not working out. Because something always is working, despite the doom and gloom. It is impossible to make progress in everything you do 100% of the time. So at those times when it looks like you’re failing, it’s probably the best take a look at what you’ve done and at the progress you’ve actually made. I decided today to take a look at how my writing progressed.

Blogging is a Bitch

Okay, time to get these off my chest and write them down so that I can separate the stupid from the actual true issues.

Being Funny

I write posts that are funny in my head at times, by my head can recreate the tone of my voice and a computer screen just can’t do the same for the people reading the post. So I hit publish as quick as I can, saying I will not worry about how the post is taken and then stress about it all night. Of course, the next morning it takes a while to check my comments and when I do, it is usually with one eye closed so that the full force of whatever may be there doesn’t hit me at once.

Pen and Paper

I don’t know. I still can’t get away from my Moleskine and a pen to carry around with me. I can write everything in it from errands I have to article ideas. I only use my phone when something I have to do has a specific date. I can write faster than I can type with two thumbs and I would rather catch the ideas as fast as they come.

This was going to be a post about how I got away from blogging for the weekend to get back to writing. And that part’s true. I started writing it yesterday and that part’s true. Writing BooksWriting Down the Bones

If you have not read this book, do so now. It was written by Natalie Goldberg. It will change your attitude about writing and is my backpack, wherever I go. Does writer’s block happen? Is it a cop out? The answers don’t really matter when you are facing a blank page and your fingers refuse to move. Or on those days you are sure you could write, but no idea seems right.

Writing Every Day

I do work in a lot of different areas on teh internets. And each job I do has different effects on my mind. I have to enter that job’s mind mode for a short or long period of time. I like writing mode but it is one of the hardest to come back to. Not sure why. It always has been.

When I was around 14, I picked up "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg. It’s a book on writing practice. A musician will play hundreds of songs in practice for every one he plays on stage. A boxer will spar with lots and lots of other boxers before he gets to fight for real. Writing is the same or should be.
