The best way is to use one of the Firefox addons that will highlight links that are nofollow. Just doing a search in the Firefox addon site should bring up a couple. The one I use puts a pink box over nofollow tags.

We need to consider Do-follow classifieds as well. This bring us direct traffic as well as some google ranking after a while. A list on recent do-follow classifieds sites will help.

Excellent list of social sites. Squidoo is the best of the bunch as you can make your own stand alone site that will rank well with good content.

Thanks for the list. But Stephen don’t you think if we want to attract a healthy amount of traffic to our blogs then using smaller social sites can be better for average bloggers like us. Then please can you make a list of those social sites that can be used to attract good traffic.

The importance of these social sites is that they give you links that count with the search engines. So you will increase the ranking of your site in search results pages for the topics you write on. Social network traffic is usually momentary. Search engine traffic lasts over time, for the most part.

  • Stephan Miller: I have to admit I am liking it a bit because it loads fast. I have up to now been using Flock and FF3 both for different purposes. I think I may use C
  • Stephan Miller: I am really trimming down the plugins now. I have learned my lesson one too many times.
  • Stephan Miller: But the only reason I could think of that you would need a proxy for is to find an impossible amount of blogs to comment on, at least naturally.
